Khairul Islam Al Amin is a committed, responsible, and professional journalist. He is currently serving as the Chief News Editor of the national daily Dainik Protidiner Kagoj. Prior to this, he served diligently for three years as a Special Correspondent and was honored as the Journalist of the Year in both 2023 and 2024 for his outstanding contributions to journalism.
His career in journalism began in 2013 with an online news portal titled Oporadh Songbad, which was founded by veteran journalist Khirul Alam Rofik. He later worked for seven consecutive years as an Upazila Correspondent for the national daily Sokaler Somoy, published from Dhaka. He also served as the Executive Editor of Dainik Mymensingh Protidin, where he played a crucial role in ensuring the uninterrupted publication of the newspaper during the COVID-19 pandemic. In recognition of this contribution, the Mymensingh District Administration awarded the newspaper.
He is also the publisher of an online news portal named Durniti Barta, which is currently under registration. His articles and reports are regularly published in various national and regional newspapers.
In addition to reporting, Khairul Islam Al Amin has played an active role in the welfare and organization of journalists. He served as the Central Joint Secretary of the Bangladesh Online Sangbadik Kallyan Union (BOSCO) and was later elected as the organization’s General Secretary. Currently, he is serving as the Organizing Secretary of the Bangladesh Online News Portal Editors’ Council, a national body of online news editors.
Khairul Islam Al Amin is a passionate traveler who has explored numerous historical, natural, and cultural landmarks across Bangladesh. In 2018, he visited Cox’s Bazar—the longest sea beach in the world—for the 18th time. His footprints can be found across the scenic hills of Rangamati, including the cool heights of Sitakunda.
He has visited Sylhet’s tea gardens, the shrines of revered Sufi saints, Sunamganj’s Niladri Lake, and the picturesque Shimul Bagan, among many other destinations. Though he has traveled extensively from Teknaf to Tetulia, he still has two divisions—Khulna and Barisal—left to explore, which he intends to visit in the future.
Khairul Islam Al Amin comes from a respected business family. His late father, Mr. Taher Uddin, was a renowned fabric merchant and a well-known figure in his community. The family had been engaged in the cloth business for three generations. Mr. Taher Uddin passed away on April 24, 2011.
Carrying forward the legacy of honor and entrepreneurship, Khairul Islam Al Amin has built a professional identity grounded in dedication, values, and community respect.
